FArticle in The Sunday Times (South Africa), 23 September 2007
by Princess Daisy Boo inlawyers acting for a durban hospital and paediatric surgeon made a mercy dash to the high court this week, securing a court order allowing them to give a critically ill two-year-old girl a blood transfusion in the face of staunch opposition from her jehovah's witness parents.. .
in granting the order giving parklands hospital and surgeon abdool shaik authority to do whatever is necessary over the next seven days to save the little girl's life, durban high court judge herbert msimang said the court, as the upper guardian of all children, had to act in their best interests.. .
the parents, thabani and simangele mabanga, who were supported in court by members of their church, had argued earlier that god was the ultimate guardian, and that according to their religious beliefs they would not give consent for a transfusion.. .

Armish vs. JW
by Princess Daisy Boo ini watched an episode of greys anatomy last night, which featured a 23 year old girl, who had come from an armish family, and was dying of cancer.
she and a friend had left home at 16 and now that she was dying she wanted to go home to her family.
she could still talk to her family because she had not been baptised and therefore not shunned and her friend was shunned because she left after she was baptised.. now, as a non american, i don't know a whole lot about the armish, except what i have seen on movies and tv, but the similarity between the jws and the armish or puritans struck me last night.

Interesting tidbit from a bethalite
by Princess Daisy Boo inso my "bethalite" sister calls me last night for a chat (now i must digress slightly and say that conversations with my sister are few and far between - we have very little to say to each other and any calls to each other are merely out of duty) .
after all the small talk, she tells me that she was doing stocktake in the tuckshop for a change instead of the usual housekeeping job that she is meant to do.
i ask her why and she tells me that all the dept's within bethal who keep a supply of products have to do a stocktake in preparation for the big courtcase on friday.

Royal Ramblings: Trouble in the Kingdom
by Princess Daisy Boo inpdb needs royal kick in the ass.... ok, lets start at the beginning... .
once upon a time, when princess db left school, she was instructed to find a job as going to varsity was not an option (obviously) and she wasn't planning on pioneering, so she found a job (at an insurance company), and remained in the same industry for the next 12 years.
it was sould destroying for pdb as she fancied herself to be a creative girl and going to work everyday to do a job she found absolutly boring was a trial for her.

Baby Shower
by Princess Daisy Boo inso, this week i was invited to a baby shower being held for my very oldest friend - she and i were toddlers in the same cong, went to the same school, did talks together and aux.
pioneered together... after i left school and subsequently the borg, her and i kind of lost touch (although i did go to her wedding (at age 18???
) ) and we have chatted on and off over the years, and seen each other once or twice since then (she came to see my kids when they were born).

Working Class Hero
by Princess Daisy Boo ini am sure that john lennon was thinking of something very different when he penned the lyrics to this song, but while i was driving to work this morning listening to the green day version, something about the lyrics struck a chord within me.... as soon as you're born they make you feel small.
by giving you no time instead of it all.
till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all.

Caffeine and NGO issues
by Princess Daisy Boo inhi again.
i may just be being lazy here and for that i apologise, but for the benefit of myself and other newbies, could you just clarify or point me in the right direction... i am very curious about the caffeine issue and the ngo issue - i have not heard of them before?.

My Theory
by Princess Daisy Boo ini have had this theory for a very long time and i would like to hear what everyone has to say about this.. i think that people are either inherantly religious or not.
if they are inherantly religious, then the wtbts will naturally apeal to them, all the deep in depth study and the bible analysis and so on.
they feel the need to look to a higher source for fulfilment.. and then there are those that are not inherantly religious... the ones the prefer to concentrate on the here and now.

Free at Last, or am I
by Princess Daisy Boo ini have just spent the last 3 or 4 hours reading everyone's posts and i am so thrilled and relieved that sites like this exist which allow us ex jw's to express ourselves.
i feel compelled to share my story, even though it is probably quite unremarkable.
i have this feeling that finally being able to express my thoughts albeit on the web, will finally allow me some freedom!.
